The North teaches people in its own way. You can never learn from mistakes here: the price is too high. Recently the rescuers spent more than a week trying to locate an all-terrain vehicle carrying schoolchildren that had gone missing in the Chukchi tundra. It happened because the vehicle set off on its journey despite the weather at zero-visibility.

The all-terrain vehicle of civilization has been rolling across the snow in the Russian North for decades. Until it ran out of universal fuel: money. And the helpless machine got stuck in the tundra, halfway between the past and the future. Maybe it was also sent off down impassable Russian roads at zero-visibility? It is too late to speculate now. It is more relevant to understand how to save people who found themselves in it? Look for resources and push it forward? Or, maybe, transfer the hostages of civilization onto a dog-pulled sleigh?

Neither works.

The North teaches people in its own way. When you are like this child, imbibing its lessons from the very birth, it becomes your own, albeit still severe. And the infinite expanse of the white snow, gleaming in a hundred tinges unperceivable for a strange eye, acquires real beauty.
