Shell, Danone, Vodafone and Nestlé gather in Prague to discuss how to embed CSR into their operations on 13-14 October

Corporate responsibility must be strongly embedded into company purpose otherwise it falls into "the additional things" category with little focus and resources, says Monika Čížková, Brand and Communication Director at Vodafone Czech Republic.

PRAGUE, 1 October 2008

There are now only two weeks left until the Ethical Corporation's Central and Eastern Europe Corporate Responsibility Summit, set to take place on the 13-14 October in Prague. It will become a meeting place for CSR and communications professionals wanting to share best practices. They will discuss how to develop, integrate and implement effective corporate responsibility strategies across big business in Central and Eastern Europe.

Monika Čížková, a speaker, says: "For Vodafone, corporate responsibility is one of the company's six strategic objectives — 'Be a responsible business'.

"The CEE CSR Summit seems to be the perfect occasion for businesses operating in the region to share their knowledge and best practice in developing and implementing corporate responsibility strategies."

Emily Farnworth, Director of Corporate Leadership at The Climate Group, one of the leading international nonprofit organisations dedicated to advancing business and government leadership on climate change, has recently joined the speaker roaster, which already includes representatives from companies such as BP, Microsoft, SABMiller, Siemens and DHL Express.

At the conference, corporate leaders will address key CSR topics that are critical to the region, such as: the business case for CSR and developing social and environmental reporting, stakeholder engagement and working with the government; developing and implementing an effective CSR strategy in the local context.

System Capital Management is the Gold Sponsor of the event.
